8:48pm: The Texas Department of Transportation reports South Highway 21 is now closed between FM 2818 and South Highway 47 in Brazos County due to a factory fire. We expect this closure throughout the night

Bryan fire out, most evacuees can return home

BRYAN, Texas -- Fire officials say the chemical fire that started just outside the city of Bryan is now out. Residents living more than two miles from the El Dorado warehouse can now safely return home. The remaining evacuation area includes about 30 homes.

Here's a list of fire related closings and cancellations.

-Texas A&M University has closed the campus and all classes have been suspended at this time.

-Sanderson Farms will be closed due to a mandatory evacuation of the area for 2nd shift on Thursday, July 30th. Sanitation and Shipping operations will report as normal. All other departments will report as usual on Friday, July 31, 2009 unless further notice is given. Please continue to look at KBTX for updates.

-Coaches for Children Event has been canceled. The event was scheduled for Thursday night at C&J’s Barbeque in Bryan. For more information call 979-822-9700.

-St. Joseph Catholic Catholic School is closing due to evacuation. Parents are asked to pick up their children as soon as possible.

-All Bryan ISD campuses are being evacuated. Parents who have children in the Champions daycare program are asked to pick up their children as soon as possible so that the buildings can be closed.

- Blinn Campuses are closed

- Knights of Columbus Thursday Night Bingo - Cancelled

- Producer's Cooperative is Closed

-BV CASA: All sessions canceled for the evening contact counselor on Monday.

-Firestone on Texas Ave.

-WellsFargo is closed at 3 locations: Briarcrest, Harvey Mitchell@Villa Maria, and North Gate

-BVCCA Closings: Bryan-College Station Community Health Center, WIC-Texas Avenue Clinic, Head Start Offices Impacted

-All after-school activities are cancelled

-Walmart and Lowes in Bryan

-Garlyn Shelton Imports is closed

-GED Classes at Brazos Valley Regional Center Cancelled for today

-Bank of America is closed

-Cafe Capri in downtown Bryan is closed, Mr, G's in Bryan is closed

Bryan Chemical Fire: Road Closures

The city of Bryan asks citizens to call 211 for information rather than the EOC. The road closures listed in the previous release define a perimeter of the area that should remain evacuated:

Highway 21 west of Harvey Mitchell Parkway to Texas 47
Leonard Road from Harvey Mitchell Parkway to Texas 47
Sandy Point from Harvey Mitchell to OSR
OSR from Sandy Point to Texas 21 west
Luza Lane at Texas 21 west
